Post 102 – Personal Stories of an Architect’s Journey

Architect as the Owners Representative

Sometimes known as the “master builder”

The architect’s basic responsibility is to listen for the owners vision, create the vision on paper and then prepare drawings so that the general contractor can construct the design. A very important task that is often overlooked is for the architect to help the owner manage the project as well. This St Andrews Country Club Residence is an example of the architect designing and managing the project on behalf of a Canadian owner.

Lesson Learned:

If you want a high quality design, have the architect be part of the

construction team.
